Adopt an organic olive tree: when you decide to adopt an olive tree at Organic Farming Italy, you not only open your heart to organic farming in Italy, but also become part of a unique community. Imagine this: Your own olive tree, carefully marked with a handmade olive wood sign, bears the name you give it. Seeing this tree with your chosen name for the first time is captured through photos and a video – an emotional and special moment.
To capture all these memories, we’ll set up a special Dropbox folder for you and optionally offer a WhatsApp group as well. Here you can find the video, the photos and the sponsorship certificate. Wherever you are, you can always take a look and enjoy your contribution to preserving Italy’s nature and traditions.
Our olive oil tells a story that is not to be found on industrial plantations in Spain or Greece. You adopt a specimen of the Taggiasca olive tree, one of the most exquisite olive varieties in the Mediterranean. As early as the 9th century, monks in Taggia discovered this special olive and cultivated it with love and dedication. As a result, the entire coastal landscape of Liguria was shaped by the fascinating Taggiasca culture.
The Taggiasca olive trees grow in the mountainous and often inaccessible landscapes of Liguria. Every cut, every fertilization and, above all, every harvest is purely manual work – time-consuming hard work that is passed down from generation to generation. This makes our olive oil a precious commodity. The unmistakable quality of Taggiasca olive oil is worth every penny. When adopting olive tree you get this great olive oil.
All. who adopt an olive tree are not only doing something good for themselves, but also for others. Part of your sponsorship fee goes directly to the aid organization “Rete Tesori della Riviera” in Liguria. This initiative is passionately committed to organic farming in Italy. It is currently supporting olive growers in Liguria who are facing major challenges due to the drought and the resulting poor harvests.
Our olive harvest takes place every year from October to December. The olives are harvested by hand and then processed into extra virgin organic olive oil. After a resting period, the oil is bottled and sent to you in January or February. If weather conditions such as drought result in lower yields, we use high-quality olive oil from sustainable partners. These meet our standards, even if they are not always officially certified organic. In rare cases, however, delivery may not be possible.
The delivery time for the creation of the certificate, the selection of the olive tree, the production of the signs including photos and the video varies, as it is not feasible in bad weather. But normally Giulia and Micol do the signs twice a week. This means that on average it takes us 3-4 days to get things ready.
When you adopt an olive tree, it is usually for one year. This ensures that you have a harvest during this period and get olive oil from your tree. At the end of this year we will write to you and ask you if you want to extend the olive tree sponsorship. The following year is then slightly cheaper.
You can also take out a subscription to Adopt an Olive Tree, where you will automatically receive olive oil from your tree every year. You can interrupt or terminate this subscription yourself online at any time.
If you want to adopt an olive tree and give someone the gift of adoption, you can also add a gift pack. This is a beautiful box containing the certificate of adoption beautifully printed in a white real wood frame and a bottle of olive oil from the farm.
We can send the gift either to you or directly to the recipient.
If you Adopt an organic olive tree: Our commitment to protecting the climate and nature is deeply rooted in everything we do. Our farms proudly follow the strict guidelines of the BioCert organization, which even go far beyond the EU organic standards. But that’s just the beginning. We are proud to work with OLIO CALVI, who press olives using a virtually waste-free, state-of-the-art organic production process. This step ensures that our olive oil is not only healthy, but also environmentally friendly. Our commitment to sustainability does not end with production. Instead of sending each vial of olive oil individually through Europe, we have set up warehouses in different countries. From there we ship directly to you. This approach saves considerable amounts of CO2.
And the package in which you receive your olive oil? This is also a testament to our sustainability efforts. Our packaging, whether made from recycled material or our innovative grass cardboard (which is 60% grass!), is another example of how we care for our planet. In a world where every little detail counts, I invite you to join us in making a difference. Adopt an organic olive tree and become part of a movement that is working for a greener, healthier future for us all.
